Been there and stayed at the Riu Yucatan and absolutely loved it. If it's a choice between Cancun, Cozumel or PDC, I'd stay in PDC again. You can take a bus to Cancun from PDC or a ferry over to Cozumel from PDC. |

I stayed further south in Tulum (I went to an eco-chic resort, Amanasala). Tulum is about 1.5 hours south of Cancun and it has beautiful beaches and is really laid back. Playa del Carmen is supposedly the fastest growing part of Mexico... |

Yes i was there in 2005 and stayed at Fisherman's Village which was wondeful little resort. Unfortunatly we got stuck in hurricane Wilma, but they took great care of us when we were there.
We are going back in May of 2007 for our honeymoon and looking to stay at one of the Iberostar hotels. Playa del Carmen has so much to offer and the location is great !! |

Yes was at Rivera Maya, stayed at Iberostar Del-Mar. Beautiful place. It's only 20 min south of Playa del Carmen. The hotel has free bus service every hour. The hotel is great. Also stayed at Iberostar in Cozumel, another great resort. The Iberostars are the best. There food is wonderful and you have many choices of restaurants. The service is outstanding. |

I don't understand why everybody insists on going to all-inclusives. I have been to one once and found it was too confining to stay on the resort. If you are paying for the all-inclusive it is hard to leave. It is far cheaper to go to a hotel or condo and try a different restaurant every night instead of eating at the resort. There are thousands of hotels and condos for rent in Playa. We like a condo because it gives you the at home feel, and you can have a choice of eating in or not. Also a one bedroom condo is generally cheaper than a hotel room and far more spacious. |
