Back in June 2001, I was in GDL-Jalisco (Guadalajara). Boy, I loved it! Very cultural, wonderful people, excellent and delicious food, and amazing sites! Ouytside of GDL, I visited cities and small towns like Jocotepec, Ajijic, Chapala, La Barca, Potrerillos, Las Trojes, La Canada, San Juan Cosala, San Luciano, and many other areas. Love the sights!
Something I learned during my trip. Guadalajara becomes the most Mexican city in the entire country of Mexico. It is the most cultural, there's more Mexican spirit, and you can feel it while you're there. GDL is very historical too!
I'm sure you've gone to Mexican restaurants here in the U.S. Well to tell you the truth, they all suck! No matter how much color they add to an enchilada, they can never taste the same as they taste in Mexico. Here, most ingredients are frozen, packed, with lots of preservatives, and that's nasty. Go to Mexico, and you will eat of the finest, and the real Mexican food. Fresh made, right before your eyes, nice and warm.
One delicious and refreshing drink which I highly recommend you is "Tejuino". It is made of corn and other ingridients. During a hot day, it's awesome! Delicious. When you ask for it, you might be asked if you want ice cream with it, say "yes" it's almost like a float, but it's fresh made ice cream, the best flavor with "tejuino" is lemon.
Don't forget the desserts, pastries, and other goodies. Go to the farmers market, you wont miss them. They're all over. If you go to San Juan De Dios, which is in Guadalajara, beware that when you go the supermarket there, or "el mercado" you will be pulled by every salesman, for you to buy their stuff, or the cooks would pull you to eat at their restaurant. I love that!
Go eat fresh fish, oisters, from the lake, Lake Chapala. You will see many tourist there, might see someone you know, so stay alert.
Can't say no more, cause I am hungry already.
Don't forget to visit the churches, they are awesome in the outside and the inside. Even if you're not Catholic, with all due respect. Take photos. Watch out for pigeons, they might shoot a load over you. Other than that, just have a wonderful trip! |

There's beautiful colonial cities like Guanajuato, Puebla, Oaxaca. There's beautiful resort beach places like Playa Del Carmen, Veracruz, Puerto Vallarta, Cabo San Lucas and Ixtapa. THere's large metropolitan cities like Guadalajara, MExico City, Aguascalientes, San Luis Potosi. Out of all i'd recommend Guanajuato, I love it. |

I liked Cancun. I went in January, so it was a little cool at night, around 70 degrees or so.
Cancun has everything on one strip, like Las Vegas.
You can go up and down the one street (which is a few miles) and see all the hotels, clubs, shopping and food they have to offer.
I found it convenient because I didn't need a car. I stayed in a all-inclusive hotel, so all food drinks were included.
They scheduled tours, etc. I thought it was great. |

Yes; Yes.
I visited Playa del Carmen and Cozumel a couple years ago and loved it. Cozumel was a little touristy, but Playa del Carmen was lovely. However, I think it has grown in popularity in recent years, so you might do well to go somewhere a little less well known. |

I went to Tijuana too, but heard that a lot of the cities that are close to the US border are trashy. Then I went to Cancun a couple of years ago and it is clean and nice. I had a lot of fun there. You can always find something to do there! Good luck. |

I have been to Cancun, Acapulco, and Puerto Vallarta. Everytime I went to an All-Inclusive hotel (meals, drinks, etc.) I recommend this options because the food is generally better than what you will find outside the hotels.
Cancun - Party, party, party...Great place, weather is not guaranteed. Plenty of Americans.
Acapulco - Party, party, party...VERY touristy, beautiful beaches. In December, it is swarming with young people (16-20)
Puerto Vallarta - What happens in PV, stays in PV. Best of the 3 resort towns. Weather is guaranteed year round (I think they have 12 days of rain per year). Alot of Mexican tourist as well as Americans and Canadians. |

Oh my God!!! México is such a beautiful country, you can visit a los of its cities, towns, beaches, etc. Monterrey it's one of its major cities, as well as guadalajara and if you like going outdoors and hiking you should definitely come to Creel, here are some amazing waterfalls and the prettiest forest you'll ever see!!!
By the way the cities near the border are not trashy, what makes them look bad are the "tourists" that only come to get drunk and feel superior, if you feel the city you go to seems trashy, well then you are not going to the right places wich means you like to be trashy!!!
