Every year. I usually make a stop in Morelia. It has SO much history, always amazed everytime I go by there. Right outside Morelia are some mountains (on the SW side) and it's cool how you go up, everything feels cleaner, smells better (natural pine) and have the best panoramics of miles and miles. Then Uruapan has alot of natural beauty as well. I've never been as far as Lazaro Cardenas or Playa Azul. On the other hand, I always go to Tierra Caliente (around Huetamo and Ciudad Altamirano) to visit my grandparents; that's one place to avoid all in all. I think it takes interested people to appreciate Michoacan, you just can't take your "typical" American tourist and hope that they enjoy it cause they won't.

Go to Morelia, a colonial city which is very clean now. The Cathedral has a pipe organ with over 4,000 pipes. Visit the aqueduct, the zocalo and several museums. Close to Morelia is Patzcuaro (a lake and the home of many events on Day of the Dead in November), Quiroga and Uruapan where you can visit a national park.
From Uruapan there is a toll road which takes you to Ixtapa and Zijuatenejo where you can enjoy the beaches.

it´s a lovely city! You have to visit a town called Angangeo or something like that, it is so beautiful and colorful. Each house has a different color and lots of plants on the patios. Pretty town I loved it.
