Hi everyone, what part of Mexico would you recommend me for living? |
Of course not for retirement, but for spending a great time learning more about the Mexican culture and having good experiences!!!
I've visited Mexico City and I didn't like it!!!!!!
I've visited also Cuernavaca (which I loved), Veracruz, Celaya, Queretaro, Acapulco, and La Paz (Baja California).
I liked the most LA PAZ because you feel more "At home" with all the products from back home you can het there, and with the sea, and all the peace!!! (That actually means La Paz in English).
I have never been to the Rivera Maya, but they say it is beautiful.
BUT IF YOU HAVE LIVED IN MEXICO OR HAVE VISITED A GREAT PLACE, PLEACE TELL ME SOMETHING GENERAL ABOU THE MEXICAN REGIONS TO LIVE AT (NORTH, CENTER, SOUTH, ETC.)
I liked more Northen Mexico, by far, but what is it like in other parts of Mexico!!
In Mexico is the same as in the USA?? (Northern life is totally different than Southern, Southeastern, etc.)
THANK YOU
Additional Details Besides La Paz, they have told me about Ensenada as an excellent place to live. (Both have beaches). I think both are good places. Which of you think is better??
And from the southern side, I have heard, no doubt, abou Oaxaca, and Merida. Do you agree with this cities?? |

Oaxaca is a state with mucho culture and archeological zones,I lived their for a short time and enjoyed the mountain life very much. The state of Oaxaca is a natural habitat, they do not allow factories of any kind because they do not want to pollute the air. It's clean and it's beautiful, they also have beautiful coast lines and famous beaches like Puerto Escondido and Huetulco. They have many ruins and artifacts their also, I would highly recommend it. People from all over the world travel their all year around. Also the state of Chiapas which lies to the south is also beautiful. Then you are one state away from Guatemala, if you get adventurous. |

If what's important to you when you go to a foreign country is "all the products from back home you can get." Then probably Guadalajara would be good for you. There's Walmart, Sam's Club, Costco and Home Depot.
But I like the differences in the culture--that's why I like Oaxaca. It's completely different from Northern Mexico. Click the Link below and explore that site. |

To live here legally you must have a FM3 card . You will be issued a 6 month tourist visa when you arrive. Do not stay past this time or immigration will have a nice fine for you to pay before leaving Mexico.
You can do like many other ex pats and leave after 6 months and then re enter for another 6 months.
Please read this link.................

Even just being here as a visitor past the 6 months will be a problem - trust me I've heard some stories from Ex pats here in Acapulco.
As far as the city..Yes Northers and Southern states have many differences.
I choose Acapulco b/ c it has an airport here with non stop back to my hometown of Atlanta. Very few hurricanes. The beach and the weather. As far as " at home". Yep we have a Wal Mart , Home Depot , Sam's club , McDonald's........... |

The way I think I can describe Mexico is North, Central and South - the three areas are so very different from each other specially when it comes to Culture. I am an American and as I have traveled through Mexico I think the South is the best part geographically speaking. The States of Chiapas, Quintana Roo, Yucatan, Campeche have so much beauty geographically speaking. I think Chiapas is the very best throughout Mexico. It has huge green mountains, it is covered with rivers and waterfalls and creeks. They plant a lot of coffe there, you can also see a lot of cattle as you drive through Chiapas. Quintana Roo (Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Cozumel, Isla Mujeres and all its nearby places) has beautiful see through, crystal waters, it is in the Caribbean. Because of its beauty the Government is focussing on making more tourist attractions. There is International Tourism all year round in Quintana Roo. Yucatan has its Historical Archeological Mayan sites. There are still many Mayas living in this area of Mexico therefore the Culture is very different from any other place of Mexico. So I guess it dependes on what you are looking for. If you are looking for Geographical beauty then you can find it in the South part of Mexico. I hope I was able to help. Good luck. |
