Yes, you may bring a car if you are still making payments. Most lenders will not let you take the car out of the country during the 1st 6 months of your contract. When you cross the border, you must go to the car permit office in the 1st town and get a car permit. this is a sticker for the window and some paperwprk for you to keep. Cannot bring American car into Mexico past the 12 mile checkpoint without this. If you have an FM3 visa, this permit is good for as many years as you keep your FM3 current. If you have a tourist visa, it is only good for the length of the tourist visa...max 180 days. It costs about $100.00 if you come with an FM3. You MUST have a letter from the lender giving you permission to bring the car to Mexico to get the permit. You also must have a crdit card for them to imprint. if you try to leave Mexico without your car, you will be fined $400.00 as it is illegal to sell an American car in mexico. You will also need Mexican car insurance. See site below for my favorite, other sites for car info. For the dog, you will need a BRAND NEW health certificate from the vet, BRAND NEW rabies shot ( no matter what!) , and shot records. You can apply for an FM3 at the nearest Mexican consulate. You can also get the car permit there...is easier than going to the office at the border ( where it may take several hours.) It is MUCH better toget your FM3 BEFORE you come to Mexico than to try to get it here. Also, you cannot bring household goods unless you have an FM3.

You will have to ask about your car usually you can take it with a permit but that permit is good for 6 months I think, ask the department of transportation in Mexico .... as for your dog, I can't believe you asked this, what do you think? Of course you can .. Mexico is like US, and when you get there you will see. everything is the same over there .. the chances of getting robbed over there are the same here in the US.
