The best thing to do will be to take a bus or plane (southwest has some great deals between Austin and El Paso) and then take a bus to Chihuahua. The bus will be like two hours. Below you have some websites with more info.

You could either drive as far as the border and put your truck in a "lock-up" OR take the bus TO a larger border town -- but -- either way --- DON'T do the BUS in Mexico !! You will sincerely regret it !!! The ONLY way to get to your destination if your going by land and not by air -- is by TRAIN -- the train service in Mexico is so much better than the bus -- it is unbelievable !!!!

Go to the immigration office, tell them you are an illegal from Mexico. They will give you free transportation to the border. (Ok bad joke).
Seriously, there are commercial buses (Gray Hound, etc.) to the border, then walk across. Or drive to the border and park in one of the fee lots ($5 all day) right next to the border and walk across.
