Don't be affraid, just speak it as you can, is very confortable when we are seeing that somebody is trying to learn our language.
Try this:
Que pasó, como estan todos?
Hello, how are u? (to a group)
Que ondas, como estas?
Waaazzup, how r u?(to a single person, is unformal) |

In a week and a half I don't think there's much you can do. Just don't be afriad of saying things wrong because it's a definite that its going to happen. Just talk to them; trust me - they will understand you. If all else fails do like me and communicate though caveman-like gestures and hand movements, lol. |

The best way to learn is just try. It is hard to put sentences together, just use short descriptive sentences, not being afraid of making mistakes. Being around accepting people they won't think anything of your mistake. Just practice, and get your husband to help you, that's what I did. It takes some time to speak fluently. |

Try: Rosetta Stone.
They have a very nice product worth the money you put into it.
Although, it might take a bit longer than a week and a half.
But have your husband teach you as you go.
If he can speak English too.
Hope I helped! |

Hi, I was in the same position as yourself. I couls understand what was being said but not too good at speaking spanish, and rather shy about it. However when I went to Spain on holiday after a few days my shyness disappeared and my confidence seemed to improve. Just be yourself and remember people love it when you make the effort to learn their language, just relax and enjoy Mexico, Eleanor

The family will understand. Have fun with the language, nobody will expect you to speak perfectly...be prepared for a few jokes about you but they will not be unkind. Bien viaje |

You might be able to find a class near you or a website for a few pointers. I would recommend a program that I have used though, it worked great for me and if you already know a little bit then you should be able to pick it all up pretty quick. The website is http://pinurl.com/learn_spanish_fast . Good Luck with everything! |
