1. to come to the US from mexico, you need a valid mexican passport and a valid US tourist visa. you also need to bring aditional documents such as bank account statement, utility bill, or university enrollment information if you plan to go beyond the 25 mile border zones. to get a tourist visa you boyfriend must make an appointment with an embassy in mexico city, guadalajara, or a few other cities. he will need to bring the information they request of him (passport, birth certificate, etc...) and he may be granted a tourist visa. many people are turned away, he may not get one. BUT if he is a college student, he has a very good chance, especially if the college is well known such as tech de monterrey.
as far as just a boyfriend, a tourist visa, or student visa is basically your best bet. it's fairly impossible to get a work visa these days.
2. if you marry a mexican citizen in mexico and he wants to come to the US, you must file for a fiance visa (a k1 visa) you will need your marriage license and all documents translated by a professional into english. you must fill out all the forms correctly, provide blood samples, a physical examination, any criminal records, submit to background check, show proof that you make 150% or more above to poverty level (YOU, not your husband) and that you have a place to live in the US (you must also be a US citizen...process is different and much harder for a permanent resident.) it will cost you about 700 dollars now, but the fees will go up to around 3000 pretty soon. and it takes anywhere from 6-18 months. after that you and your husband can come to the US legally and he can work. after two years you will have to go through an intensive interview process and finally he will be rewarded permanent residency.
3. if you have a child, that child is automatically a US citizen no matter where he/she is born. same for mexico i believe. the child may have two passports, and have duel citizenship.
4. no, a mexican student cannot get finacial aid in the US. yes, it's difficult but not impossible to get a student visa. yes, credits to transfer.
my suggestion to you is to tackle the tourist visa first. also, for the college part, enroll in an exchange program...that is the best way. if worse comes to worse, you could each transfer to colleges near the border. such as a college in san diego and one in...tijuana...well, tijuana is horrible...somewhere else. :)
my advice from person experience...these relationships are SO hard, but if you love each other, it can work. it won't be easy, it won't EVER be normal, but one day the paperwork and legistics will be behind you and you can live life. best of luck! knowledge is the BEST thing you can do for yourself, research and prepare! |

Well he would need a passport and a visa ( not that hard to get but he have to wait aroun 3 months at least) a tourist visa it's easier he'll have to make an appointment with the US embasssy at Mexico ( in Mexico city) or at the consulates ( like 6 all across Mexico but i'm not really sure in wich cities), the passport comes first by the way. As far as i know if you get married at Mexico you'll be able to apply for a mexican citizenship and so does he if you get married on the US but he have to stay married and can't work on the US for at least 2 years i guess until he gets his green card. Well if you have a kid he'll be able to count with a double citizenship wich gives him all the profits of both goverments like sponsorships by the government and free education, healt etc.
The student visa depends on how good student the kid is and at least in elementary, middle and highschool i think it's compatible with some courses but college it's a little more complex |
