How come you cant drink the water in mexico??

Ok, you can drink water in Mexico but bottled, anyway I don't drink from the tap in any country including the US for that matter, the taste is bad!
And people please it is MoCtezuma, no N in the name, Moctezuma was an Aztec Emperor, the lengend says he never wore twice the same clothing, after his daily bath he would wear something new.

Most of the big Cities have filtering and chemicals in the water as well as in the USA, the thing that happen really is that some times the pipes are not in very good shape, and also we tend to store the water in our constructions in big recipients on the top of the houses called Tinacos, this most of the time are not sanatized as often as they suposed to be.

Therefore it can be a lot of bacteria

Boiling the water for at least 30 min is recommended,

Drinking from a fawcet had its consequenses in one time of my life, not only had the squirts, but i also had amiba, plus some worms of many types and some other parasites, a full zoo in my stomach!!

So even when you can say we are adapted to certain bacteria and our bodies can handle those, most of us mexicans will never drink directly from a fawcet.

Water is not chemically treated to the same degree in Mexico as it is in USA.

The chemicals in the USA kill the bacteria that is int he water, in mexico there is nothing to do that. Boiling the water kills that bacteria. most people who live in mexico have had their bodies adopt to this and are used to the types of bacteria and can handle it, however you're body is not and if you were to drink it you would get sick.

EDIT: what's with all the thumbs downs? geez! 3 of us are syaing the same thing and yet its all thumbs downed. Wonder if it just might be the ONE person who thinks different.

its cuz they don't have the same filtering system and people in mexico are used to that water. But if we drink it, we get sick cuz our bodies arn't used to that

MONTEZUMA'S REVENGE!!!!! when Cortez came and jacked up the mighty Aztecs, Montezuma cursed the waters to make us sh'ite our selves after drinking @@ haha.... that and we aren't used to the bacteria that is in it so we get the squirts, this won't happen if you are used to it. i.e. no one who lives there gets the shizes...

Most places in Mexico now filter their water, they did not used to. The result was Montezuma's Revenge for a few days after drinking the unfiltered water.
