How do I best get to Cuba from Mexico's Yucatan area. Is there a ferry from Cancun? How often/fast/cheap?

The discount airline Click (a division of Mexicana) has flights from Merida and Cancun to Havana. Flights are available from other locations such as Mexico City, but the will connect with a flight from Merida or CancÃºn.

Do not panic when you see a price like $1,278.00 MXN. The price is in pesos, not dollars. Currently exchange rate is 10.96 Mexican pesos to 1 US dollar.The Mexico Pesos is of one of ten currencies that are not called dollar, but use the symbol. The Cuban peso is another.

Remeber that the prices for airline tickets and the monetary exchange rates are fluctuate.

You can take a quick flight for approximately $80.00 to $150.00 USD.
You will be able to purchase a ticket at the nearest airport in Merida or Cancun, there are also plenty of day trips you can purchase from travel agents around these areas, ask any front desk person at any large hotel they will be able to direct you.
If your an American Citizen you should first ask if you will have any problem entering or leaving Cuba and you might have a problem when re entering the States.
If your a Canadian don't worry about a thing and have a great time.

Make sure you have a passport because starting in Jan 2007 You need one to fly back into the United States from Mexico. In Jan 2008 you will need one for land travel.

Im a US citizen, and I have been there twice.

I flew from Mexico City, right into the big airport, they stamp your turist card, which you must turn in when you leave, so your passaport wont get stamped, so you wont have any trouble getting back into the US..

If you fly from Merida into Cuba, you will fly into the little airport, which is a little bit further out than the jose marti airport, but not by much.

Don't know about Merida, but from Mexico City there were at least two flights a day.

You will love Cuba, its nice, and "different".

i know Us citizens that would fly out from Merida around a hundred this was several years ago they were issued an insert nothing stamped on pass port they liked it went several times. Fly back to Mexiico not the US

Ditto what "chiprat" said. As far as passport stamps are concerned the Cuban officials will not stamp your passport if your an American citizen.

Depends on if you are a US citizen - can be tricky. You might check with some tours going out of Cancun to Cuba - I don't know of any ferry that goes from Cancun. I hear the diving's great and hope to set up a trip someday -

always travel with a body guard.. can't trust those kind of places.
