45 minutes to an hour. Depends on how hair-raising you want it to be!?
Bus or taxi; I'd suggest booking transport with your hotel and flight package.
Bus would be cheapest however you need to check departure times.

It takes about 40/45 minutes to get from the Cancun airport to Playa del Carmen without any stops.

By far, the cheapest and easiest way is the ADO bus. It's about $8 each way... The bus goes straight to the station at 5th Ave and Juarez, which is pretty much in the center of everything, unless your hotel is on the far north side of Playa. It does not stop along the way so it's pretty quick (about an hour). The bus schedule from Cancun Airport to Playa del Carmen: 10:45 - 11:45 - 12:45 - 13:45 - 15:00 - 16:45 - 17:45 - 19:00 - 20:30.

A Taxi will cost about $65

Although cheaper than the bus, the Colectivo is the worst way. It will stop along the freeway dropping people off and picking others up. This could easily double the 1 hour trip.

If you are going with an all-inclusive resort they will pick you up.The bus is the cheapest.Taxis are more .

it is about 1 hr of distance.
The cheapest way to get there is by ADO Autobuses. It's about 6 dllrs.
Or you can just take public transportation. about 2 or 3 dlls

I recomend you a real transportation to pick you up from the apto.to your hotel at playa del carmen it is a litte more expensive, but is more safe.

Definately the Swim with Dolphins, this is fantastic especially if you go to Dolphin Discovery on Isla Mujeres, as you have a 40 minute boat ride there and back with open bar and entertainment.

The Captain Hook Pirate ships are another fun thing to try.

A Jungle tour through the mangroves, with snorkelling over the Coral reefs.

Xcaret is a wonderful day out, as you get to enjoy an ecopark, with dolphins, turtles ect and then get to watch probably the best show in the whole of Mexico at night.

A catamaran trip with http://www.cancuncatamarans.com is a must, a day sailing and snorkeling, with buffet lunch on Isla Mujeres, open bar, a shopping trip and the chance to have your picture taken holding a live shark.

At night, try the Cancun Party Hopper, there are now 2 different versions going to different bars, and they are great fun.
