Mikey was from Atlanta , Ga. Mikey see mucho homosexuality in Atlanta. Mikey now lives in Acapulco. I think I see more here than Atlanta.
Mikey say bigot's are universal. Catholicism here is VERY strong. Many Jehovah's witnesses as well. Combine the 2 and you have the same bigotry views as anywhere

Alethia MD
Most young generations accept it, but truth is there's still discrimination towards gay people
Religon plays a major role, I think. The Catholic church condemns gays to hell, and so, Mexico being a deeply catholic people, they don't wanna go to hell.
However, it's not illegal, as it is in some countries.

kutemxiken
agree with her.most people dont accept it b.c most of them are catholic

It all depends which part of Mexico you are regarding.

For instance, in Mexico City you see nearly as much homosexuality in certain areas as you do here in Montreal-- especially in the Zona Rosa (Pink Zone) district which is known to be a homosexual community. I have seen men french kissing on park benches, holding hands and this was in various business sectors of Mexico.

I can't imagine homosexuals in a place like Chiapas doing what they do openly in Mexico City, which is known as gay friendly, but I can imagine it happening in more larger cities such as Merida in Yucatan, maybe Cancun in Quinta Roo, etc, but like others said Mexico is Roman Catholic.

Just use your own discretion like you would if you were in America and you will be fine. Overall, Mexico is accepting to many peoples regardless of social/race/gender details but not as advanced as the western states like Canada.

I lived in Mexico for a year and there were tons of gay people there. I traveled with one of my gay male friends to Meixco City and there were LARGE gay communities and areas there and I didn't see anyone complaining. I mean, it depends on the place and the people as in anywhere you go. I am open minded so it doesn't bother people and most people I am friends with. I only had one Mexico FEMALE friend who was homophobic.

Dat meskin latin legend
Mexicans hate gays even their families dont want to know about them, for mexican parents having a gay son is like a punishment from god and they will never accept it
