How long does it take to get from los angeles to rosarito, mexico?

(Driving) I will be leaving Friday afternoon or morning, depending on whether Friday afternoon is just a horrible idea. I have no idea cuz I have not even driven to san diego yet, much less across the border...

Rosarito:
Well for starters, DO leave in the morning, not afternoon. That will make a big difference and timing it right can get you to the border in about 3 hours, give or take. All bets are off if you leave in the PM.
1. Buy insurance and drive to Rosarito
2. OR 2nd option: leave car in lot at Border Parking station lot, and take Mexicoach into Rosarito and back when you leave. Simplifies the border crossing, your risks driving, cost of insurance. Plus parking is sometimes an issue and costs in Rosarito
3. In Rosarito, you can walk everywhere
4. There are little buses and taxis that can take you to Puerto Nuevo, if you like. Ask the fare in advance, though, so you dont get messed with.
5. Have fun. Stay out of lonely neighborhoods and streets. There is much to enjoy with some common sense and care.

The time estimates here are pretty accurate. From the border to Rosarito is about 40 minutes. Make sure you get Mexican insurance for your car and be careful. I love Mexico and have been to Rosarito many times, but there is a battle going on now with the mayor, police, and drug gangs in Rosarito. I'm not telling you not to go, but don't go down there being a "stupid american". Stay in groups and stay in the public areas. Most importantly - HAVE FUN. Go to Puerto Nueveo and have some lobster and get a massage at the Rosarito Beach Hotel.

Rosarito Beach is a 'ways' down there, before Encadana.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat Seafood!
It's about 2 to 2.5 hrs South from Laguna Beach....and LA is 1+ hrs. North of me.......<without much Traffic>.......Sooooo, I'd say 3++ hours!
YOU GOTTA BE NUTS to do it on a FRIDAY Evening!! Backups at the Border should be FUN!!.....A lot of HS & College 'hooligans' like to got to "Hussongs Bar"......and get THROWN OUT Numerous times.....lol...lol... Remember, NEVER PAY FULL PRICE FOR ANYTHING, except the Booze and the Cops DO TAKE BRIBES....they consider it Part of their 'Fringe Benefits'.....

Rick
its like about 3 hours to the beach!!!!
