I need a little info about gettting from Mexico to Acapulco by bus from someone who knows. We are four people traveling later this year, and we want to take the bus out to the coast from el DF.
How long should it take, which is the best (comfortable and nice) bus line to use, and how much should it cost?
Would you recommend Estrella Blanca? Does anyone know if ADO does that route?

P.S. - Please don't tell me to fly, if I wanted to fly I'd check mexicana.com for plane tickets.

Mexico City to Acapulco is heavily traveled and takes about 5 hours on a divided 4 lane highway. Buses are nice and probably costs around $40. The tolls on that highway are almost $60

Sparks have the right answer, its like 5 hours by bus tops, and I should recomend Estrella Blanca, You should get to Taxqueña Bus Central South of Mex City .

ADO goes to the East..

I took the bus from Mexico City to Acapulco. It was pleasant we took the VIP bus, I can't remember which one was but they give you 3 options, we took the most expensive one coming back. Half the people more seat space. We took the second best to go to Acapulco and it was comfortable just the bathrooms were so sick and dirty.

The cost was about $60 dollars up to $85 for the most expensive one. It takes about 2 hours. Comfortable seat and they have little TVs for you to watch a movie.

Once you get to Acapulco all the Taxi drivers fight to take you to the Hotel. Walk a street away and ask for the price on every Taxi you select. It gets lower and lower. Select the looks of the driver too, don't jump into a taxi whose driver looks like a criminal because he can be a criminal. Good luck.

Estrella Blanca and Estrella de Oro are among the best.

But check out interjet.com and volaris.com.mx, they are low-cost airlines that fly to acapulco on the cheap and with great service. They fly from Toluca, but offer free shuttle services from Polanco and Santa Fe areas.

I took a bus there about 4 years ago and it took 3 and a half hours and 30 dollars but the price might have changed since them.

It is about 300 pesos ($30 US) on Estrella Blanca From Mexico, DF to Acapulco. Most of big bus lines are about the same as comfort / quality / leg room. The ride is pleasant and about 4 1/2 hours. I like Estralla Blanca and Estrella de Oro. It is th best way to travel Mexico if you ask me, you get to see a lot of the country.

If you want tickets just go to the Bus Station in Mexico City and get the ticket you want. You can even choose the seat you want. They show a movie, give you a little care package like chips and a soda.

RENT A CAR!!!!! You can get a sub compact for around $30 a day unlimited mileage. The drive is 3/12 -4hrs. The bus ride is over 6 hours. The bus is cheaper but no where near as convienent or as confortable as having your own vehicle to travel in. Take this advice. Drive yourself. A volkswagon Jetta is what I always get. Great on gas!!!! Good stable car on the highway.
