If you take the airport shuttle (shared with other travelers) it will cost around $9.00. If you take the private taxi it will cost around $43.00.

The nice part about Cancun you can ride the bus for 65 cents to get around the hotel zone. Make sure you bring dollar bills from home. They don't accept US coins and they usually don't have change for big bills. Best to be prepared.

Taxi's are so expensive. Try to take mass transit busses if you can. I went to Cancun several years ago and a buss picked us up at the airport and dropped us off at our hotel for about $7.

Cancun's taxi service is run by a Union and all of the rates are listed outside your hotel. So you will know ahead of time exactly what you are expected to pay and have your money ready so you are not fumbling in your pockets or purse when you arrive at your destination.
I highly recommend NOT taking a taxi to / from the airport...it is outrageously expensive. Please try entertainment-plus.net they offer private vans which take you directly to your hotel. When I travel to or from the airport I always use this company.
