What do you expect to buy...? I think that is the first question you should ask yourself. I'm from Mazatlan, I live here. My wife owns a little store in the Golden Zone were 95% of tourists gather for shopping (Imean the Zone NOT the store) She sells beach wear, ceramics, all kinds of handcrafted goods, blankets, crystal and glass items...you name it. She has told me that most of buyers get the 4 t-shirts for 100 pesos bargain, about $9.50 dollars and choose to get items running between 2 and 10 dollars. Only when they really like something to wear themselves they are willing to pay over 100 dollars for very expensive or sophisticated items. So, as you can see, it's very hard to stick to a fixed budget. My best piece of advice is: Visit as many different stores as you can. You can browse, touch, smell even taste items. Then make a list of what you want to buy and try to remember where you saw the lowest prices. If you visit the Golden Zone you have more than 100 stores very close together. This will help you to visit as many as you wish and find your best buy. If you still need more info about the matter, click the link below. These people run the best touristic magazine available in Mazatlan. It is edited by American citizens who are now permanent residents of Mazatlan. Ask them about ANYTHING. Or maybe you want to consider another possibility. Write the address and once the page opens, look for the option FORUM on the left row. Click there and you'll start instant contact with the hundreds of American citizens who live in Mazatlan and who use this Forum as a mean to stay in touch. Try them. You won't regret!

Don't bring a lot of CASH. Use your ATM card to get money as you need it.

$100 should buy more than enough souvenirs

GeccoGirL
it depends on what you want to buy them, but if your going for cheap, pretty and traditional with 50-100 dollars is more than enough!!

some small souveniers cost about 3-5 usdollars (ceramics)
markets are generally cheaper, clothing can vary
cheers

there is new mazatlan and old mazatlan you will find same unique things on both part of towns but if you want souvenirs you should buy on old mazatlan, thigs there are alot cheaper.
