How much spending money would you suggest for a month in Mexico?

All transport and accomodation is paid for, I need to know how much to take for food/drink and activities such as tours around famous sites, museums, snorkelling, boat trips etc.

It really depends on where you will be... touristy and urban areas are more expensive for things such as food, taxis, and the like.

But, one of the great things about Mexico is that you can spend as much or as little as you want, really.

If you plan to be conservative, you can totally live in Mexico for about as little as $5 a day. If you don't want to eat street food, but still want to stay on a tight budget, $10 a day would suffice. If you really want to experience EVERYTHING, I would suggest closer to $20-$30 a day.

I've spent $400 in a month... and $400 in three days... it just depends on what you plan to do and where you will be.

Give me a little more information about where you will be and I can give you some specifics. :)

Yes, it definitely depends on where you are going and what activities you want to do and how you want to eat.

We have had some of the best fine seafood dining experiences ever in Mexico, but it has cost us. When we eat "fine" we usually spend between $150 and $400 per meal for two.

As others have said, you can eat reasonably. Traditional Mexican fare and what I call cruise food can be very inexpensive.

I just don't want anybody to get the idea that you can go to a Mexican Resort Town and eat upscale and pay $10 for it.

It depends of how are you traveling? Where? When? If you go to Cancun or Los Cabos, are more expensive than other places. If you go to Oaxaca, Michoacan, Oaxaca, Guanajuato, et cetera would be a big difference, these places are accesible and cheap. Also, if you are backpacking will be inexpensive. I would recommend around 1000 dollars (included museums, sight-seeing tours, etc). Try to eat in the markets, the local food! Walk around the city and ask to the locals where you can find " El Mercado" explain them you want eat there and may be buy souvenirs, handcrafts. The difference in prices is huge!

Have a nice trip!

I went to Mexico 2006 with my family of 7, we stayed at the Iberostar Parasio Beach which is about 12 miles from cancun a taxi would cost $20 only for a crew of four to cancun one way, we did a Tandem skydive which costs $240 each we took a trip to one of the lagoons for snorkeling the pick you up from your hotel which costs $70 each, when we went to cancun w spent about $250 on bits and bob for people back home, i don't drink myself and anyway if i did i was all free at the hotel, we went to Playa Del Carmen which is about the same distance in the opposite direction, that cost $15 for a crew of four, while we were there we took a very cheap ferry ride over to the island of cozumel a return ticket was $7 each, i hope this helps Please feel free to e-mail me back with anymore questions.
