How were the Mayan Pyramids made?

How were the Mayan Pyramids made? Like did they move the stones first, then put them in place? I can't really find any sites or info on it.

Mayan Sites vary buy region, era, wealth, importance etc. but to generalize, they were typically rubble interior with cut stone exterior. The walls of vaults & rooms being the exception to the rubble interior, they too would have been cut stone, basically any surface you could see would be cut stone.

Exterior surfaces were generally covered with stucco and paint. Interior space was typically narrow and high due to the lack of an efficient arch, plus the goal of most Mayan construction was to create exterior space, opposite to the traditional goal of European construction (interior space).

Classic era buildings tend to have more exact carved stonework where as post classic tend to have less exact stonework but relied on heavier coats of stucco and paint to give them a uniform look. Also, new temples tended to be built overtop of old temples.

Nobody knows. The three codecs that still exist today don't say anything about how they made their pyramids and most of their population "dissapeared" by the time the Spanish arrived. The few descendants that probably know anything won't reveal their secrets to ordinary outsiders.

You would have to put into perspective that they had precise knowledge of astonomy and some of their pyramids are aligned with the stars. The Chichenitzá pyramid has a shadow that goes up and down the staircases at sunset depending on the time of year thanks to the precision of the place where it was built.

well is a lot of limestone in the building place so is not very difficult to find out why they use this material so you can find some information in www.courses.psu.edu/anth/anth008_cmg/149... or you can browse with mayan structures or mayan construction
