I'm going to Mexico, Do I need a converter for a wall plug-in for chargers?

i dont think so. it depends to what part of mexico. if you do need one just go to a "ferreteria" and you just buy one there for about 20 pesos

Most outlets in Mexico only have two holes for two prong plugs. You just need an adapter for the 3 prong plug..can buy it at Walmart or anywhere where they have exension cords, etc.

Electricity is compatible. I carry an old extension cord, after all most of the older hotels do not have very many plugs anyway. I have had to unplug the tv, plug in th extension and then I will have 2 more left after I plug in the tv again into my extension.

I even carry one when I am just out traveling. When waiting for a flight, I can share one plug with other people, rather than hogging it all to myself.

No, voltage is universal all over north and south America.

You may encounter some problems with the newer plugs not being compatible with the A.C.outlet on the wall. If you have problems like I had , simply visit one of the large supermarkets and they will have a cheap plug head .
The problem will be with your charger "Male" pins. If one is larger than the other you will have problems in most of the older hotels.

No you should not need to use a converter for the outlets in Mexico, they are basically the same as ours here in the USA. The only thing I would like to add to the above answers is that the electricity in Mexico is weaker than ours and is not able to carry as much wattage. So be careful with laptops and televisions.

Charger as in a cellphone charger? Electricity outlet holes are the exact same as in te US. There wouldn't be so much Texas border weekend shopping tourism if electronics from the US couldn't work here (heck, I've rarely seen region 4 DVD players have trouble playing Region 1 DVD's bought in the states).

And if it's a cellphone you're referring to, the cellphone might not work. I brought a mexican cellphone to LA twice and it started to act all weird (the hour was always wrong and I couldn't fix it until I came back) and I could send Pm messages only part of the time but I could still recieve phonecalls and sometimes messages. The same might happen to you. Better just go to an internet cafe to send e-mails.

In the highly unlikely case your plug doesn't fully fit into the outlet, there's hardware stores everywhere called Ferreterias (and in Mexico City we have plenty of Home Depot stores). Just show them the plug and try to say in the easiest english you can muster if they have a plug that fits. You could even find a plug in a supermarket if you're lucky.

It's true about the thing of electricity charges here. It's more of an issue that you could risk frying your tv set when the electricity goes out all of a sudden, but this happens more in the rainy season. We are currently in the dry season until mid July so the electricty seldom goes out unless you live in a crappy neighborhood where it goes off on a sunny day all the time (ugh! That would suck).

If you're using something like a laptop and you're scared to death of frying it anyways, you could just bring a power converter in the plane from the Us or buy one here. A decently good one can cost you 30 dollars though I've seen them go for 10 if you don't mind less quality.
