make at least 1 photocopy of your passport and license
keep the original in your hotel room and carry a copy everywhere you go. they'll tell you that as long as you don't leave the country you don't need your passport. so not true. found out the hard way.
also, the usual-immodium, pepto, bottled water, wipes/tp. you're going to get "sick" sooner or later. try to make the best of it. |

I was reading the other answers.
If you will going with this stupid mentality that you will get sick, you certanly will, try to be more like the european tourists, they never get sick in Mexico because they look different cultures without prejudices. (the opposed than americans) |

Yes, you do need a drivers license. You need that for the airplane. They want that over a passport |

Don't listen to the first answer... it would be a damn shame to lose your social security card in Mexico. You have absolutely no reason to bring it there. Just bring your driver's license and some bottled water :) |

A.bring a gun or maze for protection or bull dog.
B.Don't dress like a tourist
C.do not get kidnapped or jumped.
D.Pain killers from all the cheap beer and
DO NOT SAY U NEED DIRECTIONS
or ppl can see your a tourist lol..No offense but MEXICO AND USA do not get along and when it comes to American going to MEXICO is hard since they don;t like them..lol |
