I'd say go up to Taxco and Cuernavaca, and if time to Mex City if you like big cities.

Or if you'd like a quieter beach, check out Puerto Escondido or Zinuatanejo/Ixtapa.
I didn't enjoy Acapulco because my hotel wasn't too nice, near a noisy 5 lane road, and the waves at the beach were 10 to 12 feet high and every where I sat somebody would come up and try to sell me something or charge me to sit there!!! I did have great food and the old part of town is neater than that highway that goes around the bay. It's beautiful from upon the hills and I'm sure you'll have a nicer hotel than I did.

Go west along the coast to Ixtapa and you will have a blast. It is a nice area and I would suggest a moped ride down to Ixtapa Island. There you can snorkel and there is an open air resturant on the island. It's great.

is many places closer the most interesting can be to the southpuerto escondido and puerto angel here is a very good places in Huatulco and the bahia (bay) to the NE taxco (silver mines and old town) to the NW is Zihuatanejo more beaches clean waters you can check more places at www.visitmexico.com and www.sectur.gob.mx www.mexicodesconocido.com good luck and have a good time!

cancun? btw do not drink their water. and ice cubes are frozen water. my cousin was sick on her vacation because of ice cubes in her drink. have fun, congrats, and best of luck.

Taxco is only a busride away and it is a strikingly different atmosphere. It is well known for its silver markets. Try Taxco! and go on a Saturday, thats when the markets are the best.

First of all is Acapulco, (Akapoolco) and well you havent chosen the best beach place to go, sorry I am not a very big Acapulco fan for a honey moon for me Acapulco is more for friends on weekends, anyways you have to go to Taxco a town very famous cos its works in silver and jewelry, amazing place go to the Viewer that it is where the Christ is, just ask in the town for it and they will know what I am talking about the view is amazing in fact it was considered amont the top 5 of Latin America. You can go to Ixtapa or Zihuatanejo where there are more calmed beaches but you need another 5 hrs by car.
