You will love it! CancĂșn in my opinion is the best place in the world. It offers activities for everyone of all ages. Whether you are just relaxing on the gorgeous white beaches or going out at night and experiencing the insane nightlife of CancĂșn you will have a great time!
The two main forms of currency are the Mexican Peso and USD (United States Dollar). Most of the transactions you make they will give you back pesos, but you can pay with American bills at almost every establishment in CancĂșn. If you want to change your USD into Pesos you can do so at the airport, the hotel/resort you are staying at, or any bank that is in CancĂșn. You can also get Pesos from ATM machines as well. Just changing you money in at the front desk is the easiest way to do it. You won't get an exact rate, but it's not that big of a deal to worry about.
Yes, pretty much everyone speaks English in CancĂșn. CancĂșn is basically almost like Miami in a way. It's very Americanized and actually if you don't go out of the hotel zone you really can't tell you are even in the country of Mexico.
Yes, they are extremely friendly and helpful in CancĂșn. They are some of the nicest people I've met.
You have no worries about crime. Sure there is bad people everywhere you go, but it's very safe in CancĂșn. Of course, don't go walking around by yourself at night, but you have no worries. There are so many people around all the time crime is very low.
If you want to ride horses there isn't a location in the hotel zone of CancĂșn to do so. It's not like, for example, in the Bahamas where you can rent them and ride on the beaches.
The drinking age is 18!!! However, I really don't agree with what they say because I've witnessed kids as young as ten drinking in CancĂșn. Also, there are tons of under aged kids drinking in CancĂșn during spring break so the laws aren't as strict as in the US. If you go to a club and throw enough money around...you will have no trouble drinking if you aren't quite of age yet. It's all about money!!! I had a friend just get back and she was only 17 and she drank everywhere she went.
Places you must visit are CoCo Bongo, Senor Frogs, The City (it's a night club), Dady O, Dady Rock are good, Dos Equis Bar, Congo. Just walk around the hotel zone at night and you will be amazed. During the day I would recommend riding sea-doos in the Caribbean and snorkeling. You can get an excursion that takes you through the jungle out into the Caribbean, then snorkel, the back to the place. Also, I recommend you go on the Captain Hook Pirate Cruise/Dinner. It's a lot of fun. If you like nature I recommend you give X-hela a visit and also you can check out X-caret also. They are basically wildlife/nature parks with animals and nature and you can swim with the dolphins. You may also want to check out the Ancient Mayan ruins. It's a neat site to see and it gives you some insight on how the Mayans once lived. The best places to go for that are Chichen-Itza and Tulum. All set aside though if you visit CancĂșn you MUST go to CoCo Bongo and Senor Frogs. Have a great trip and will love CancĂșn....You will have a BLAST!!!!!!

Hangin' around SW Missouri
Ok - its real easy. Take US currency - pesos. They have money exchange services at resorts and airports. Since Cancun is a tourist place - don't worry - they speak english, spanish and more. At my resort, one employee could speak 7 languages. Everyone comes to visit this region because of the beautiful resorts and ocean and price.

I found everyone to be friendly and helpful. I felt safe and did not encounter any problems. But remember they are counting on tourists for the lively hood. Their wages are LOW.

I don't know where you're staying in Cancun - but there are a lot of activites you can do. Horseback riding, ATV's, little bitty speedboats, snorkeling, diving, jeeping, dinner cruises, ancient ruins, water parks, swim w/ dolphins, shopping on 5th Ave in Playa del Carmen, take a ferry over to cozumel and more. The water is so beautiful that many people go there for the snorkeling and diving. I listed 2 web sites for you to check out. Don't worry about buying the tours online. I'm mainly showing you whats available. It outlines several excursions and the length of time.

Drinking age is 18 - there's a lot of clubs to go to. Try Coco Bongo

I'm a shopping person so we liked 5th Ave Playa del Carmen - and we took the ATV - speedboat excursion and that was fun fun fun.

I am going to keep it sweet and simple. Use american money not pesos. They accept it there and they will convert it over for you. Use website provided by your travel agent, or common websites, however, do not take each review to heart. John might like because of the hote resturants but Joe might hate it because the drinks are weak... Most crew and people you omeet speak english and if not their will usually direct you to someone who does. Activites are all over you will get overwhelmed with what they have and you will have easy acess to all of them. Go downtown in pairs, its a experience, atv, and parasail...... take plenty of picture because i dont know where you are from but i am sure it's not there.

Click the link below to read reviews of 81 thing to do around Cancun. Also don't miss taking the tour over to Chichen Itza (ancient Maya ruins).
Other people mentioned Xcaret and Xel-Ha, they are worth the trip down to them.

Senor Cancun
Wow lots of questions so let me try and take one at a time.

I’m going to Cancun in November, any reviews?

I am not certain if you are looking for a review on a certain resort or Cancun as a whole, but I will assume Cancun as a whole. Cancun is the #1 tourist destination in the Caribbean and for many good reasons. Cancun offers great sightseeing, terrific resorts, great night life, numerous restaurants, and best of all great beaches on the turquoise blue Caribbean ocean. No matter what age group you are you will be certain to have a blast while in Cancun and most likely be coming back again many times in the future.

what currency do they use?

They use Mexican Pesos although US$ is widely accepted. Currently you will get between 10.5 and 10.6 pesos to 1 dollar. There are many money exchange kiosks in Mexico and most banks exchange as well. The banks will provide you with better exchange rates. Also credit cards are taken at most places. You will need to or it is more favorable for you to exchange some monies into pesos for taking the bus and other things, plus you will get a better exchange rate from the money exchange banks then you will from merchants. I suggest using a credit card where ever applicable as well.

do they speak english (lol, i'm clueless)?

In the hotel zone you will find almost everyone speaks some English at least at the shops, restaurants, night clubs etc. you will not have any problems not knowing how to speak Spanish.

are they friendly?
The people of Mexico and Cancun are extremely friendly. Remember they rely on tourism there.

is it safe/low crime rates?
it is very safe in Cancun and the crime rate is low in the hotel zone tourist areas and I never had any issues in the city either. Cancun is very strict and has zero tolerance for crime amongst tourists. Juts use common sense as you would traveling in any place you are not familiar with

any horse-riding places?

Yes there are places outside of Cancun 20-30 minutes away to do horse back riding. These places can arrange transportation for you as well as the many tour excursions places located in most hotels and in the malls and shopping areas. I have included a link below which shows you a lot of the activities located in or around Cancun. From this page is a link to Rancho Loma Benita – where you can Ride Horses on the Beach!

any places you'd suggest visiting?

Yes I would suggest visiting one of the ecological parks if time permits and it is within your budget. Also be certain to spend one day at Isla Mujeres, which is a small island located off the coast of Cancun. There are ferries from the hotel zone to take you to Isla Mujeres. Spend a day there on Playa Norte, which is a great beach and offers many beach bars where you can sit at the bar steps from the ocean with your toes in the sand . I also included a link for info on Isla Mujeres.

Xcaret Park - Xcaret Eco Theme Park is full of Mexico; Mayan Culture, Flora and Fauna, Archaeological Tours, Water Attractions and has a great Swim With Dolphin Tour.

Xel-Ha Park - Xel-Ha has the most spectacular natural aquarium of the world for you to experience the real aquatic adventure. Explore this theme park and enjoy , adventure activities, natural, ecological attractions and water activities like diving or snorkeling in creeks, lagoons, natural wells and ancient caves fed by subterranean rivers flowing to the beautiful Mexican Caribbean Sea of the Riviera Maya.

and also, what is the drinking age?

18 year old

enjoy your trip, I am certain you will have a blast!
