I'm looking for a vacation to cancun for this summer and in looking I came across a good deal at a resort... |
the resort is called Carousel. I was reading some reviews and found out that this resort is on the lagoon side of Cancun. I'm not sure what this means but in one of the reviews on tripadvisor, the review said that it's best to stay on the ocean side. Does anyone know anything about this, maybe what the beaches are like, the water, or anything else. Thanks yall. |

Wow. Glad I stopped here for a moment.
Here's the deal - you don't swim in the Lagoon, but it is where you do all of your watersports, 'cause it's almost always to rough in the Ocean.
So, if your're into beach, then no Lagoon, 'cause you can get to the Lagoon pretty easy, and unless you're at a hotel on the beach, getting to the beach can be challenging. If you don't care that much about the beach - if you're there for the nightlife and restaraunts, the lagoon can be fine. (It can also be a little musty in some areas.)

I wouldn't stay at a hotel on the lagoon side. I love the beach and spend many hours in the water. Go here for some websites to purchase a vacation. I would keep looking for another deal.

You may be able to find good deals down in Play del Carmen (30 miles south). If you are in USA, try applevacations.com or you travel agent. HAVE FUN |

It's not as nice as say the Oasis, Royal Solaris, Dreams etc, if the price is good give it a shot but their are sooooo many more resorts that are in a better location then that one...........

The water is way better on the Ocean side. There are not many hotels on the lagoon side for this reason. Try to stay on the ocean side if possible, also try to stay in the main hotel zone, if you get to close to the Gulf, then the water isnt as great either. |
