Wish you the best of lucks!!!

Hi there,

Well, I certainly do not think that you would have to take an expensive trip to learn english in UK unless you are absolutely keen and determined to pursue your further studies. Expenses wise, yes it is an expensive country. I am not sure of the tuition fees, it depends on the location and the university. You can try for scholarship but it is very difficult to get one for undergradute level. Like I said you need strong determination.

Accomodation wise, if you are travelling alone and to a new foreign country, it is best to stay within the safe confines of a hostel. Please BE CAUTIOUS of strangers and other people you meet as they would take advantage of your naivity. Dun let your guard down and lose focus from reality. If you find the hostel accomodation expensive, then you can try to look for shared accomodation with other gals or gals from mexico. This will help as you can look out for each other and also reduces home sickness!

Occupation wise, I am not sure about the employment laws in UK as it varies from country to country. Best option would be to contact the British consulate in mexico or drop them a mail to confirm employment rules and regulation. Also, you can contact the university/school you are interested to enrol in and I am sure they would be able to assist you as they deal with such cases regularly.

One word of advice would be that when you are in a foreign country, you do become a target for tricksters who may advise you to carry out illegal activites in order to earn a quick buck. Be careful, know the law well coz once you get caught doing something illegal, you will lose all the money you have invested for the school/uni, perhaps serve prison time in that country and will certainly be deported back to mexico. Well, I am sure you would not what that. So understand the country's culture, rules and regulations well. The British consulate should be able to advise you further on this matter.

Well, hope this helps. Think it through and wish you all the very BEST! ;-) Take Care!

Well it is pretty pricey compared to Mexico but if you stay out of London and the South East it will be cheaper (but those are the coolest places!).
It is not a very dangerous place in general. Just keep you wits about you... common sense etc.
I doubt many parents would allow you to be a baby sitter unless you have had clearance to work with children. Perhaps you could get a job in nursery or play school? You can sometimes get training at the same time.

Good luck!

If you want to come to the UK to work as an au pair, apply to a reputable agency in your own country that provides this kind of work abroad. Living in the UK can be very expensive so it is best to secure a job before you come. Any foreign country can be dangerous because it is unfamiliar; you must always be sensible about who you meet and where you meet them - I'm sure the same is true in Mexico. You will find many British people who are critical and sarcastic about their own country - it is their greatest weakness as a nation but luckily they do possess other qualities. It's a pity you don't have family in the US!
