if ur going 2 the riviera maya or a place jss on te other side of the bordes u can pay with dollars, if ur going any other place in mex u must pay in pesos. the best place 2 do the exchange is at the airport when u juss arrive cause there ur gonna find sereral placer wher u can exchange and ur gonna b able 2 compare the rates of exchange ( theres not a big difference frm one 2 the other)....ur always gonna find a better rate of exchange at the airprt than in the hotel.

What part of Mexico ! ! ! !
If you go to Baja they do not take pesos.
If you go to Guadalajara, they do not take us dls.
Puerto Vallarta, Cancun and most beach cities will take your dollars BUT at a lowest rate than the bank“s rate.
Just get pesos at the ATM machine every day or every other day. That is simple, you get a good amount of pesos and you don“t have to lose money paying with your dollars.

That simple.

Depends on where you're going. If you go to Cancun, they take US dollars pretty much everywhere but, for the most part, they'll give you change in pesos.

ok - just got back from Cancun on Monday.
They take USD everywhere from hotels, taxis, restaurants and shops. In bars they tend to use rate of 10:1 so if they say 150 pesos they will take 15 dollars.
If you pay in dollars and there is change they will still give the change in pesos. Shops tend to use the days exchange rate so differs all the time. One thing though is the taxis are 10 dollars everywhere but 120 pesos so you are saving by paying in dollars.

take pecos because some/most places doesn't take us dollars. and sometimes it costs for exchange rate.
