bring lots of $1 bills (leave a $1 tip daily in your room) the hired help will leave your stuff alone if it's tucked away in the closet (out of sight out of mind) Also when lounging around (if you are going all inclusive) every other 2-3 drinks - tip another $1 to the person serving you - then they will look for you daily and you get great service your entire trip - take the bus locally - it's only about 65 cents versus the taxi's - and if you can't get a bus somewhere & have to take a taxi - they DO negotiate. If the driver tells you X amount to where you want to go - tell him how much you will pay and they'll banter with you a bit - but well worth it. Check ahead on line to see if you can book any trips (boat rides cruises etc) booked in advance (usually in groups of three things or more) will get you major discounts. Try the Pirate ship - it's a BLAST! I've been to Cancun 6 times in the past 3 years. Have fun! And if you go clubbing - get a wrsitband that allows you in and includes all your drinks while you're in the club. Wrist band runs about $30 but buying individual drinks inside all night will cost you alot more.
