Mr. Sir
You need a passport

susycal03
the only way you would need a passport is if you will be flying from mx to US THE PASSPORT LAW HAS OLNY TAKEN EFFECT ON AIR TRANSPORTATION, UNTIL 2008 YOU CAN STILL USE YOUR BIRTH CERTIFICATE AND ID TO CROSS THE BORDER BY LAND.

goergyporgy_18
Yes you do but not a mexican one!!

wheressharky
passport

Mexico Traveler
If you will be driving, walking or by sea then the answer is you will need nothing more than your Driver's License. As long as it is before January 1, 2008. If by air then you will need a passport.

The previous poster has the correct information as put out by the US State Department.

It is hard to believe that so many people do not fully inform themselves of the actual law as is plainly seen by the misinformation that you are given. When in doubt about international travel always check with the US State Department and the country you will be visiting, their US Embassy Website as you will receive accurate information from them.

Good Luck and Enjoy!

Beginning January 23, 2007, ALL persons, including U.S. citizens, traveling by air between the United States and Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda will be required to present a valid passport, Air NEXUS card, or U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Document, or an Alien Registration Card, Form I-551, if applicable.

As early as January 1, 2008, ALL persons, including U.S. citizens, traveling between the U.S. and Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda by land or sea (including ferries), may be required to present a valid passport or other documents as determined by the Department of Homeland Security. While recent legislative changes permit a later deadline, the Departments of State and Homeland Security are working to meet all requirements as soon as possible. Ample advance notice will be provided to enable the public to obtain passports or passport cards for land/sea entries.

Yes, you now need to have a passport.

I would also suggest looking up what vaccinations would be appropriate for that area. You can find this out on lonelyplanet.com

Good luck!
