Are you a Mexican citizen? If so then the answer is no. Are you an American citizen? Then the answer is, you do not need a passport to travel within Mexico, but since you are not a Mexican citizen you may be asked for your passport and visa for identification purposes. Best to call the airline and ask.

NO you dont need a passport you only need it when flying from mexico to U.S. not if you fly from inside mexico since i havent gotten my passport i have to fly from TJ to guadalajara

You will need an identification for the airline, they need to be sure the name of the ticket is the same that the person that is flying.
