I am traveling to Cozumel, Mexico on a Carnival Cruise in about two weeks and I was wondering about the..?

Go to the carnival website home page. They have the itinerary changes for cruises though May 4th (including the May 11th Ecstasy Cruise).

They are diverting the cruise destinations from Mexico to others ports ... which one(s) depends on where you are leaving from.

We were originally leaving the 11th for a 5 day cruise to Progresso and Cozumel, but they've since (so I've heard on carnival connections) changed it to a 7 day cruise, leaving the 9th and going to Jamaica then Grand Caymen.

Hey, i really hope this has blown over by then, but by then it may have worsened, i would gain advice from your travel agent and hope for the best, remain in good health, i hope you go but don't if you know it will be a risk, good luck on your trip, just wait and see, jack

Vaquerita
it started in mexico city but has already been reported in other places across the globe including NY. and you shouldnt be terribly worried about anything unless yer totally unhealthy and prone to getting sick. just take vitamins and be hygeinic and you'll prolly b fine

The U.S. Department of State has issued the following Travel Alert:

"The Department of State alerts U.S. citizens of the health risks of travel to Mexico at this time due to an outbreak of H1N1 "swine flu." The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued an April 27 notice recommending that American citizens avoid all nonessential travel to Mexico at this time. CDC's notice also suggests precautions that travelers and U.S. citizen residents in Mexico can take to reduce their risk of infection while in Mexico. CDC provides recommendations for those who must travel to an area that has reported cases of swine flu, and recommends measures to take following return from an area that has reported cases of swine flu. The complete CDC notice can be found at the following link: http://www.cdc.gov/travel/. Please check this site frequently for updates..."

As a result of this advisory and in an abundance of caution, major cruise lines that we represent have stopped calling on ports in Mexico and have developed--or are developing--positions with regard to future calls at ports in Mexico, while the outbreak lasts. We have been waiting for these official statements and I wanted to get them to you as quickly as they were available--hence the second newsletter this week

I would guess your no longer stopping there check your cruise line

Hello, There is NO Health RISK in this area at all. There are NO Travel Alerts are issued for this area at all. The strong swine type of flu is all over the world now, not just Mexico City. The W.H.O. says, "To restrict travel would be useless and not helpful". Please call me directly in Cancun at 1-888-335-1996 I have lived here 8 years. Anyone that says Mexico is not safe is an uninformed fear-monger and not a very smart person. They are only out to spread fear without knowing the facts, plain and simple.
