You will need a notarized letter of permission from your parents if you are not traveling with them. Also, for the time being, you can still cross the border by land with just a state issued photo ID and birth certificate to prove US citizenship. If you are traveling by air a passport is required. |

If you are FLYING to Mexico, you must have a passport. If you are traveling by LAND, you need your birth certificate. If your parents will not be with you, you should also have a photo I.D. If you are traveling alone or with someone other than your parents, you must have a letter of permission signed by both parents and notarized. See site below and read section on Minors under "Entry Requirements." |

Get a passport, its the only way to really drive to mexico. it only takes like a month to get your passport. the 'under 18' thing is kinda idk. i suggest you dont travel alone. |

you have to have at least a passport card (which are cheaper than the books) to go to mexico, if you are over 16 and have a driver's license you dont need your parents to obtain one. |
