It depends on the rate of exchange.

=)

1 Mexican Peso is worth an average of $0.10 USD (10 cents); 10 Pesos are worth about $1.00 USD. It's closer to 1 Peso = $0.09..... USD, but who's gonna remember exactly what it is, and take the time to calculate it? When I was in Acapulco, I just divided the price by 10, and paid that much in USD, and it was fine.
So, if you have 2 pesos, that would be worth about $0.20 USD, or 20 cents. (If you have 2 centavos (Mexican cents), that's worth around $0.002 USD, or 0.2 cents (20% of 1 cent).)

Probably not as much as you're spending on electricity to post your question and read the answers.

use the currency converter to determine the exchange rate

Don't quit your job, you are not rich. 10 pesos to a buck.

Hi Ally,

Like everyone says, if you take out the last digit, then it is roughly the value. So, 100 pesos less the last digit is 10 dollars (actually it is only $9 but you just want an estimate, right?)

But since you asked for examples and pictures, I am wondering if you have older Mexican money. The above and all the other answers so far only applies to post 1993 money. Most pre-1993 money it is basically worthless unless it is gold or silver. Here the non-silver money gets sold by the kilogram (a kilogram is over two pounds), in bags, mainly for the scrap metal value.

If you have commodity silver Mexican coins(clearly Mexico has almost forever marked them 0.720 for the 72% silver used in most past Mexican silver coinage, figure it is worth mostly whatever silver is today. To get an idea for them just compare the size to a US quarter and this: Today silver is $13.81 an ounce - a US silver quarter sized coin which is 90% is worth $2.50, but if it were only 72% this would be more like $2.00.) I believe some of the old pesos like the common 1960 half dollar sized coins have even lower silver content.

If you think you have a valuable one (more than the metal) to collectors, just browse the mexico coin category for sale on eBay:
http://listings.ebay.com/aw/plistings/category541/

If you have older stuff, say pre-1940's there is some additional collector value though it is usually minimal unless it is silver or gold.

Good Luck!

The last time that I was in Mexico, the exchange rate was right around 10 pesos equaling $1. There are many websites that can do a currency conversion for you... check out http://www.oanda.com/convert/classic.

A couple of mexican pesos isn't alot of money in america because 1.00 MXN pesos is equal to 0.0907935 American dollar

NOT EVEN WORTH GOING TO THE BANK, SAVE THEM FOR NEXT TIME U GO TO MEXICO.

The rate today for most places here in MX is 10.90 to 1. It varies per day and by location when you exchange it but I haven't seen it as low as 10 to 1 in a while.

The numbers on the bill are what you need to go by unless you can read spanish and know what the words mean, for examply if you look at $20 mx peso you will see 20 in the bottom left hand corner of the bill and the word VEINTE beside it which means twenty. Convert that and you are holding about $2 USD.

I always convert everything in my head at a 10 to 1 rate, just to make it easier on me.

If there is anything I can help you with please feel free to e-mail me.
