No, it is not legal, it has just been decriminalized. The new laws are pretty similar to those in the Netherlands. You can now posess up to 30g marijuana without getting arrested and prosecuted. Can't remember the amounts for other (hard) drugs, but it's somewhere between .5g-2g. |

It is NOT legal... but, many laws are loose in Mexico.
However, D O N O T attempt to smoke it! If you come across the wrong law enforcement officer you're in deep s*** !!!! penalties are much harsher there than they are here. And you don't want to go through the legal system in Mexico! And keep in mind (because so many Americans don't) that you are under the jurisdiction of Mexican law in Mexico and the U.S. most likely cannot/will not help you. If you wanna smoke... go to Amsterdam |

MEXICO CORRUPTION IS WHAT HAS BEEN MAKING IT LEGAL. BUT NOW WITH PRESIDENT CALDERON, MEXICO IS HEADING FOR A GREAT CHANGE THAT IS GOING TO SHUT DOWN THE DRUGIES.
BUT NORMALLY THE WAY IT GOES, YOU BUY THE DRUGS, A COP SEES YOU, YOU GIVE HIM MONEY AND HE MAKES IT LEGAL OF COURSE. BUT UNDER MEXICAN LAWS, THEY ARE NOT LEGAL.
SO LAY OFF DRUGS. THEY SUCK ANYWAY. |

At least in Mexico you know the price of justice.
If you get caught you can usually buy your way out of trouble.
A policeman there makes less than 1,000 usd a month. And has to put up with more than cops in other places. So usually you can work a deal. All without the mess of lawyers, judges, and jail.
As for marajuana and other drugs. Why anyone needs to be high to have fun is beyond me. But to each his own. |
