I lived in GDL for eight years and you can find everything there or in nearby Lake Chapala. If you have a special food that you like, let me know and I can tell you if you can find it there. For example, you cannot find Cream of Wheat in GDL but you can find it for a very expensive price in Chapala. Also, electronics are much more expensive there. You will find several Wal-Marts and Sam Clubs and a Costco and the only thing I really missed are some foods that you cannot find there but the Mexican food is great so I just adjusted.
Have a great time and email me if you have any questions.
It is also had to find a lot of books in English if you are an avid reader. Contact the American Society or try Sandi's (Sandy's) Bookstore on Avenida Tepeyac.

Nothing that I can think of, big cities in Mexico have everthing you might need. Otherwise you can always order over the internet and have it sent to a mail service.

mexico has everything we have here in America i'm from Matamoros, Mexico. If you can't find something in Guadalahara you will more than likely find it in a surrounding city. Just bring the things you have now and you won't haveproblems

Don't forget your American express card, or any credit card. Guadalajara. is not an inexpensive part of Mexico, and has a large foreign presence. It will be easier to get medication, and even hamburgers, or any electronic equipment you want. Bring DVDs and Cd's in English, or get very proficient in Spanish.
