Nice place and good for any budget; Oaxaca you can see the real mexico there, incredible prehispanic ruins, nice city, 3 hours from beautiful beaches like puerto escondido a surfers town and huatulco fancy place. Check guanajuato it's nice too.
Check : kayak.com for cheap flight tickets.
Good luck, have fun. |

I recommend you Puebla, it's a nice colonial city (as many cities in Mexico) but it has a special fame between the cult people. |

Puerto Morelos at the El Cid is where my Husband and I stayed along with some friends. We took the local bus to Playa De Carmen and we could have gone to Cancun on it but didn't. It was great, we didn't do all incl. we choose to go and eat at local resturants.I would do it again it was so nice..We went out on a boat tour and did some snorkeling. We saw huge sea turtles and all kinds of fish..We also stayed in Cancun but not in the tourist part, it was just a little hotel in the down town area no one really spoke english but it was a lot of fun..
Have fun and be careful |

I would recommend somewhere in the Mayan Riviera. It's about 40 miles from Cancun I think. It's a lot more peaceful than Cancun because the spring break type crowd doesn't hang out there as much, but it's a lot of fun. It's very beautiful also. Check out the Playa Del Carmen area and Tulum. |

I agree about Ensenada. It's touristy, close to the border, yet feels like Mexico. The people were very nice to me there.

first off, mexico IS a dangerous country to visit, unless you stay on the resorts. also, if you drink their water, you can get really sick....but just be smart, and play it safe ! |
