Well...wanting a job in Cancun's hotels? GOOD LUCK!!!!
First, all Mexican nationals get first pick (as well they should).
Second, you must have an FM3 (to work legally)...the only way you can get an FM3 is to own a home here &/or have a job. Slight catch 22. Immigration in Cancun is extremely tough...after the elections a few weeks ago we have a new immigrations czar that personally reviews each application (which is 100's per week)...he is young and eager to have the Mexican government recognize his good work. Last week he turned down an American woman who owned her own bed and breakfast on Isla Mujeres because she wanted her sister to manage the place instead of a National doing the job.
If you are fluent in Spanish and perhaps another language you do have a better chance than most non-Nationals. Time share is a big thing...which is not actually working for the hotel but working "at" the hotel selling vacation or fractional ownership...or just ripping people off.
You may want to consider going to Costa Rica or the Dominican Republic. There immigration laws are more lax and they really want English speakers.
Good luck. Hope this helps! |

In order to work legally you will need to have an FM-3 Visa |

So do most of the Mexicans in Cancun.
Mexican Nationals are always going to be given first consideration for jobs.
Not sure if a US citizen could even get a permit to work in Mexico, unless the individual had a specialized skill that was desperately needed and not available locally.
Why do you think so many Mexicans come to the US to work? Because there are not many good-paying jobs down there; what there are, are going to be given to the locals not foreigners. |

ok .. first ..
you have to speak english - spanish ..
then you have to go in person to ALL the hotels that you like (as much as possible) coz everybody in mexico wanst the same job...
so ... do a good resume ...
go really clean to the interviews (or at least put in your resume the BEST PICTURE of you)
let me tell you that "works" a lot ..
and i hope you have good luck ..
but remember that the salaries sometimes are not to great!
cozzz so many offers that is easy to choose..
good luck .. |

As long as you speak English you will get a job.
Spanish will only be used with co-workers y su jefe. Another language will only help you more, like German, French, Chineese |
