I want to know if i go to mexico for the day, what document will i need to return to us?
some questions ask at the check point= are you a us citizen?what was the purpose for your visit to Mexico?anything to declare, forbidden stuff you should not bring? but it would be best to have with you your birth certificate, maybe a picture Id just in case.Up to now a passport is not required if going beyond 20 miles into Mexico you will need a tourist permit, if traveling you will need proof of insurance, title, and driver license the owner has to get a permit for the vehicle .. maybe too much info, sorry

nope just like canada its a non passport required country at least at the kali border when you go have fun :P but dont get too drunk to answer customs questions usually there is no need for id or a soc card i would recomend NOT to bring that to mexico due to the high theft and crime rate and there is a huge biz for us soc cards a licence shall suffice

Yes you do need a passport because they do ask if you are a citizen ,but they also ask for it a lot of the time.Trust me I have been to Mexico like 20 times!!!And you are also going to need your licence (if you drive)and your I.D.
