Mikey is right. Did you maintain your Mexican citizenship also? Hope so. In that case, if and when you return to Mexico, you will need to register to vote to get your credential. You always need that card and your birth certificated to get any job other than picking coffee or a similar job. Unless you are a professional with a very badly needed work skill, you are far better off in the U.S.

A hope and a prayer....................Click on my profile and then look at my contacts.....Give Jessy D an e mail. She will have some input on the employment ( or lack of it ) scene in Mexico.
Please understand that it was darn near impossible to find a job BEFORE the world economy took a nosedive. And NOW ! Forget about it. Many Mexicans are returning home as the job market has soured in the states and being back with family is their only alternative.
Please also understand that most people are happy to get about $20 a day - six day workweek.
Your vacation last year is far different than living here.

You should still retain your mexican citizenship. It's not exactly that easy to "lose" it per se.

Talk to a mexican consulate in the US, they have them in most major cities. I obtained my mexican birth certificate and passport when I was in the Chicago consulate. I proved mexican citizenship right when my mexican parent showed her birth certificate (therefore granting me automatic citizenship).

Even if you could have "lost" citizenship by the old law, by doing things this way if you have at least 1 mexican parent, they probably won't even notice you lost it before. And even if they do find out, what can they do? Un-mexicanize you?? Hahahaha

Once you get your passport and birth certificate, all you need is to issue your IFE card (the instant pass to getting any mexican job indeed) and to register yourself in the SAT (aka the mexican IRS). You should also register to get your CURP number. It's some other red-tape document you need for a lot of mexican jobs.

Since you're mexican by birthright, you don't need to know spanish per se to gain citizenship, but you need to have some fluency of the language for most jobs in this country.

You could become an english teacher and work wherever you feel like. You may not be a millionaire, but you could live decently.

If you were born in Mexico you should have dual-citizenship. If not, or you're unsure go see a Mexican consulate and they will be able to help you out. Having your citizenship will make the job search a lot easier. Second, hopefully you speak fluent Spanish. If so my advice to you is to hit up the major tourist cities and try for a job in a hotel or anything to do with tourists. These people are always hiring.

They will pay about what minimum wage in the U.S. would pay. It's not much but in Mexico it's do-able.

Its has been more than 15 years since they change the law on Mexico and now you can have both citizenships, since you were born in Mexico you are a Mexican Citizen, you only need your birth certificate and adquire mexican papers like a Mexican Passport, your IFE card and you donÂŽt need to denied your US citinzenship.

No sĂ© porque te escribo en inglĂ©s pero creeme no vas a tener ningĂșn problema.

Tough question. If you retained your Mexican citizenship you can apply for a job and register as a taxpayer and voter. On the other hand, if you are American and speak fluent Spanish you can find bilingual jobs in Mexico. These jobs are not posted by Mexican companies, but by American ones. That could be a benefit, because jobs are scarce in both countries, so people with additional skills, like a second language and bicultural education, can find jobs easily. As for the coffee picking job another poster mentioned, that is not true. Crop picking is something illegal aliens in the USA might go for, but not in Mexico. If you are an IT professional or something you can do well in Mexico. You have no idea how many live well just by teaching English.

To work here you need (Legally)
1) Official documentation (Passport or IFE)
2) RFC That you declare taxes
3) Birth of certificate
4) Social Security Number (And to get it you need ALL the above)
5) Bank Account
6) Address Certificate (Its like a copy from the water or light or telephone, etc)
NOTE: There are some jobs that even ask 2 job references and personal references, as well as your last study degree copy

Without all the above, you can not work legally in here AS A MEXICAN CITIZEN
