I loved Cancun! Watch the first step out of the airport though...it's a doozy. LOL Drink lots of bottled water and stay away from a place called "Tacos on the Roof." They wash their meat and veggies with tap water...everyone I went with and I came home sick. Barter for everything. You can negotiate prices almost everywhere, even in the malls! Most places accept dollars anyway, so if the currency exchange rate is around 8 pesos/dollar don't exchange all your money right away. It tops out around 10 pesos/dollar, but even if you just wait until it hits 9, you're getting more for your money. (and if you wait until it drops back to 8 before exchanging it back, you can come home with more money than you left with. LOL.)

Depends on where in Cancun and what time of year. Many hotels in the Cancun area are very family oriented - and those topless drunk fests only happen on spring break in exclusively non-family hotels and clubs.

Cancun Is great and a beautiful place. The ocean water is a beautiful blue. was there about two months ago and most hotels were operating, some just barely. The restaurants are plenty of US style. Shopping is excellent in the Isla Marina so would get a place close to the shopping center. Taxis are inexpensive and the drivers considerate. If you are planning to go to Xcaret go. A lot of building is going all around Cancun as summer homes for Americans.
You enjoy yourself.
