I will be going to Mexico for several months (primarily pleasure) - Can I bring my MAC desktop w/o problems? |
I am coming in on a tourist visa - hopefully for 180 days...I also know bringing a LAPTOP is OK, as well as up to a certain amount of goods -however, no matter what, I would exceed that with a MAC computer because it is very overpriced in value (no comment..but love my mac) and I am concerned about bringing it in and whether or not I will have trouble or pay out the a##. (At this time I am planning on arriving by air..but that might change if I get brave and decide to drive) |

Used desktops are allowed when you are moving to Mexico and you declare it along with other household goods. As far as I know it's not legal to bring them in any other way ... MAC or not |

i don't think you will have a prob. just keeping it safe when you go out the security from theft i have driven many times if you drive you should have some one with you it isn't good to drive alone so i would fly |

If you have a lot of stuff, you could ship it ahead, many larger cities have post office serices that accept FedEx. Used lap top OK. |

Some people are ignoring the fact that you want to bring a desktop, not a laptop.
The US state department website says that you are allowed to tke one personal computer without mentioning laptops or desktops.
I'd check with the closest Mexican consulate. If you live in the US, go to http://www.embassyofmexico.org/eng/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=166&Itemid=60 for a list. |

I don't fly to Mexico, but drive every year. We bring our laptop, printer, and a myriad of other electronics, and have never had a problem getting this equipment over the border. One of my neighbors in Cancun also drives down for four months, but he brings his desk top with no problem. |
