If I go to Mexico illegally?

Would they have better border patrol than the US? I really dont want to get tased I just want to buy some fireworks and taquitos and stay for like a week. Would they find someone to hope across our border to replace me? I really dont want to get replaced though!!

No special paperwork is needed to enter Mexico as long as your stay remains of a short duration (week would be fine) and you stay relatively close to the border (say within 100 miles). Otherwise it may look like you are intending to stay there on a permanent basis. Go ahead and enjoy your stay and just try to think that you're at home and obeying the laws there. Don't get too drunk or act beligerent or condescending to the locals. Many, many Mexican nationals can speak English somewhat because they rely on the tourist trade from the US. Buy your fireworks, but be responsible with them. Go outside of town, or to a more remote area of a beach and fire away. I've visited down there many times from San Diego and realy enjoyed my visits to Tiajuana and Ensenada. Good food and shot a few fireworks myself. Just don't become an "ugly American", act casual, don't travel alone (same as any city here), keep your valuables safe and have a blast.

You do NOT need a passport to travel to Mexico by LAND yet. You just need a photo I.D. nd birth certificate. The law requiring passpots for LAND travel has no set date to be put into effect. See site below and read top half of page for current info. There is no need to go illegally.

Why not just do it legally? They do allow visitors. I wouldn't try bringing fireworks back across the border though. :)

Nowadays you need a passport to go to mexico, and if you dont have one, you cant come back to the us. If you are underage you need parent permission too. Im sure youll get caught and be arrested if you attempt to smuggle fireworks over here.

you dont need a passport if you are walking or driving across the border. all need is texas i.d. (or what ever state you live in). i wouldnt try to bring fireworks though. i cross the border (san diego-tijuana) ofter and it's 1000 times more tedious coming back to america than it is going into mexico. put it this way, mexico puts a soldier that waves everyone thru with occasional inspections. every person coming into america from mexico is asked to show some type of i.d. they might even ask questions like, "where do you work?" just to be a bit more sure. passport is needed if flying to mexico. KEEP IT CLEAN, KEEP IT SAFE, KEEP IT LEGAL. you dont want mexican police harassing you it WILL cost you money.

You may be able to get in easy, but coming back could be difficult. You'll be needing a passport issued by the US government.

I agree that it's just stoopid to enter Mexico illegally when it's so easy to do the legal route for an American tourist. Mexican cops like bribes so if they had arrested you; just because you're american they'd ask over 5000 US dollars at least to avoid you from going to jail if you get caught.

I believe bringing fireworks to the US is illegal even by land. If you hide them in a car, trained dogs and sensors will detect them and you will get arrested. You can buy fireworks legally in the US anyways (though I believe only in certain states and during 4th of July), there's nothing magical and mystical about mexican fireworks.

Go legally (passport required). No fireworks: 1. They confiscate them and or arrest you, 2. thay are not that stable and you can blow your hand off, 3. You don't want to end up in a mexican jail for the next 5 years. Just go and have fun and don't look for trouble. Be safe.

If you have your passport with you, then Mexico, which is part of the passport waiver program, will let you stay for 45 days just on the visa which you had better get stamped upon entering Mexico just so you can prove how long you have been there.

Why illegally, I mean you only have to show your passport and that's all.
