If I got to San Felipe Mexico this spring break... am I gonna die? |
We are driving from Las Vegas. From what I see San Felipe is safe, but I'm concerned about driving. We will obviously not be driving in the night time.
Most of the warnings say stuff like "Stay away from prostitutes, drugs, dark streets, etc..." I'm going with a bunch of really good Christian kids, we just want to enjoy the beach. Are we gonna be safe? |

I don't think the beaches there are much nice to be worth your spring break..
San Felipe is a small town/village south of Mexicali... the small town in Baja do have crime, as most cities in the northern side
It depends if you speak Spanish and are cautious about your surroundings, if you decide to go just use comon sense.
Last time I was in Baja i went to Tijuana and to Tecate for 3 days, and everything was fine, went out to several clubs in Tijuana and drove there, i was there with 2 friends.. one doesnt speak English and has been several times there (even mentions that "where are all the killings people talk about"... and really we both from from Memphis after colege to CA and Tijuana feels safer than Memphis).. it just depends what places you go... pretty much stay away from somewhere where you see drugs being traded
Most crimes and killings involve killings beween Drug Cartels and Govmt .. so if you aren't involved in either your chances of getting hurt in Mexico are lower
going to San Felipe since is a long drive through the desert just don't do it during the night and avoid same things you do in the US... like walking by yourself at night, going through shady neighborhoods (it's hard to tell which are shady... just ask a local in San Felipe), prostututes, drugs, people asking for money, homeless, and street vendors.
Have fun whatever you do... but the beaches in San Felipe will prob still be cold there |

Idk, there is a lot of violence going on between the drug cartells and the mexican government right now. Personally, I would not drive into Mexico now. I also saw a warning on tv the other day warning spring break kids to avoid mexico this season. Not sure how S.F. is right now but I'm not sure I'd risk it. |

Just stay away from the WATER- the drinking water that is. It must be purchased in a bottle. Watch out where you keep your money. Have as little on you as possible or best bet-NONE. People will get in your face trying to sell you stuff. Say- no money!
Stay together all the time. Don't talk to strangers and you should be fine. Also, don't go near anything or anyone or anyplace that seems odd.
Lastly, check the latest news on Mexico. As the first person wrote it may not be the best time to go there.
Yes, I have older kids but will still talk like everyone's mom. Can't help it! God bless you all and may the Lord keep you safe in HIS care. |

Stay out of Mexico.
The Fed Gov tells you the same thing as well. Be smart and listen to people who know a lot more than you do. |

No you are not going to be safe!!
I will tell you what happened to my sisters best friend. Three weeks ago her friends reported her missing after she disapeared in the restraunt they were eating at.The people that took her, they tried to put a hoodie on her and pretend she was asleep to get her across the boarder back into california but when the police tried to talk to her they discovered that She had been gutted and her body was stuffed with drugs. We miss her so much it has been horrible.
All my military friends that are stationed in San Deiago are being told they are not allowed to go there anymore. Please do not go! Things are horrible there! You will not be safe. |
