If swine flu gets bad enough, could the U.S. stop U.S. citizens from coming back to the U.S. from Mexico? |
I'm living in Mexico and as of right now I'm not all that concerned about swine flu. Yes it's slightly significant but seriously, there is no need to be as paranoid as most of the answers I have read. Anyway if it does get bad enough could the U.S. stop all entries from Mexico, including U.S. citizens?

Never happen.
There is NO Health RISK in this area at all. There are NO Travel Alerts are issued for this area at all. The strong swine type of flu is all over the world now, not just Mexico City. The W.H.O. says, "To restrict travel would be useless and not helpful". Please call me directly in Cancun at robert@cancuncatamarans.com or 1-888-335-1996. I have lived here 8 years. Anyone that says Mexico is not safe is an uninformed fear-monger and not a very smart person. They are only out to spread fear without knowing the facts, plain and simple. |

If the federal government decide that the threat is big enough. yes they could. But I really doubt that they would. Right now they are warning people not to travel to Mexico and I think that will probably be all that they do |

The problem would be public transportation such as American based airlines, boats, busses could ban a sick person from traveling. However, the US Embassy would make provisions to allow transportation back to the US in serious cases. I guarantee the Mexican airlines as finacially strapped as they are will not quit carrying sick passengers. They may stay in quarantine in tent cities at US airports though if the situation gets serious. |

Well, if they did such thing they would only show an incredible ignorance because those people need to be treated, and they certainly won't get that care in Mexico or in any other country for that matter. They should get it in USA. The only sensible thing to do would be to isolate those sick people, treat them, and that's it. I'm glad to see that not everyone is paranoid about this disease....... |
