I've been to Cancun Acapulco and Isla but never to PV. My favorite by far is Acapulco. Cancun is much more beautiful but is also like a mini America (think Miami). There's lots of Mexican culture in Acapulco, great nightlife, and good prices. If you want both beauty and Mexican culture Isla is a good place. They have white sand beaches and that wonderful blue water there. It's small though and there's little to do for nightlife. If you stay on Isla you can always take a day trip to Cancun or vice versa. But as I said previously Acapulco is by far my favorite place in Mexico and it's actually my favorite place I've ever travelled to.

Acapulco - if you want to see real mexican life, and get cheaper prices, beaches are small and very busy though. Cliff Diving is good to watch. Cancun - Hotels are all large and clean If you have loads of cash to blow and want an action holiday with diving and watersports..... or alternatively if you want to see the Mayan Historical Tribal stuff Chichiniza is a must also go to Xcaret for a great show about mexican history. Would give Isa Mujeres a miss as you can tour this in a day which is all you need. No idea about Puerto Vallarto.

I lived for 12 years in Acapulco, so it was a "no-brainer" for me.

Had I not loved it I would have left earlier.

Now I am retired in the Armed Forces Retirement Home, Washington, D.C. (Now you make me homesick and a little jealous.)

Well, I have been to all the places you are talking about. Cancun is the most active type fun place and Isla Mujeres is right offshore. PV is great also, slower, older and charming. Tough choice here !

I would definitely go to Cancun. The Caribbean side of Mexico is beautiful and I read the beach is rated one of the ten best in the world.

I guess if that's all I had to pick from, I would personally pick Isla Mujere because it would be the most laid back and therefore romantic. If you want to party, then Cancun, but remember there are lots of very young people in the bars. Older crowds often frequent acapulco and puerto vallarta.

Also, you do know you'll have to sit through one of those painful presentations right? Anyways you said you wanted to have fun at a bar and somewhere romantic, so any of them will do the trick.
