I assume you are a CITIZEN of the US and the answer NOW, is yes. Post 9/11 has made it more of a necessity now. It is better to get one and have it than to not and find out you need it. it does take time and i think around 75.00. Call a tRavel agent. they should be very well versed in this

2008 is the first year you will need a passport. before only identification was necessary. i know this because i go to school in southern california by the border, and a lot of people are upset about it.

If you go in the next few weeks before the new year all you need is either a birth certificate or state id (like a license) after that you are required to have a passport.

Yes, absolutely.
I almost was not allowed into Mexico (I am a US citizen) because I only had my license and birth certificate. That was before the new laws just went into effect. So for sure you need it now.

i think as of 2008 you will need a passport at the border; including if you are going to mexico... however, if you are in the process of applying for a passport; you can provide that 'application' and they will still let you in/out.

Now you do. No passport, no RE-ENTRY. I know first hand. If you are going beyond the 20 mile radius of the border, better have "papers" on you .... that's passport to you. If you're going to stay up to 30 days, you will need a passport. More than 30 days, VISA comes into play. Write or go to the nearest MEXICAN Embassy and they will spell it all out for you.

If your a United States citizen? Yes. If your a citizen of Mexico, you probably need whatever documentation from your home country to go back.

As far as I know you can go to Mexico with your birth certficate now. Mexico, Bahamas, Jamaica you can go with just basic proof that you are a citizen such as State ID card: License, birth certificate will be needed as well and another type of picture ID such as a school picture or picture ID card.

NO... the passport requirements for U.S. Citizens have been moved back to June 2009 and will probably be dropped completely after that... this is FOR LAND TRAVEL ONLY... car.. bus... walking... but you still need a passport for entering the U.S. by Airplane or Ship.

You do not need a passport to travel to and from Mexico by LAND or SEA until after SUMMER 2008. See website below and read the top half of the page carefully to see the CURRENT, correct information.

Yes you do need a passport to travel international.. I just got mines in the mail a few days ago.. If your a US citizen you get your passport faster.. there is also a fee and form to fill out for a passport plus you must take to passport sized photos.. After 9/11 the standards for international security were increased.. You must have proper travel documentation.. or else you aint gettin on no plane! Best wishes.. Good luck!!
