Do you have to go to Cancun?
Anyway, if you have enough time, take a cheap flight to Oaxaca and Chiapas. Great art, food, people, and awesome eco-tourism. If not enough time for this, make a short trip to Teotihuacan and Mexico City. Worth seeing |

yes, go in land to and actually see Mexico. I don't mean to sound mean, but I lived there for a little while, and can tell you that if you stay at one of those resorts in Cancun or any other tourist destination you won't actually see Mexico and that is sad, because it is a beautiful country, with amazing people and culture. Some good places to go are actually San Miguel Allende, Guanajato, Leon, Pena de Bernal, Teotihuacan, and Michoacan. Those are places that are resonably close to Cancun, there is so much more to see. I hope you enjoy your trip and have a great experience in Mexico. |

I went last year and what i really liked was snorkeling in the cold water of Xel-Ha i also went to Tulum the water is beautiful and we were going to go to Isla Mujeres but it rained really hard that day and we did not get to go (que mala onda) but i heard its beautiful also try to go to Xcaret its pretty and to the Mayan ruins in Chi Chen Itza. |

i was there last year, we went on a two day tour of the Yucatan peninsula which was nice, and cultural visits of various place where the zapatistas have become famous. i think it was chiapas. its nice but keep your wits about you, i nearly got mugged and ended up in jail for assault for an afternoon!
