Take the ferry over to Isla Mujares...it's a quick trip. Eat over there and rent a scooter. Also some coral areas for snorkeling. Go into the actual town of Cancun and eat grilled lobster.

LUCKY! Don't purchase any of their excursions through the hotels, they are triple the cost. Go outside of your resort and book one yourself, you'll save a ton of money. Do the ATV tour, it's amazing. You'll go through nice green terrain, you'll stop at this make shift zoo where you can hold a monkey, then you'll stop at the Sinota (an underwater cave) where you go snorkeling, beautiful! I wouldn't recommend the ruins unless you like long hot hikes, I mean, It's okay, but wasn't my cup of tea. |

You must go to Xcaret and XelHa....and Tulum the myan ruins! In Xcaret and Xel ha it is so beautiful so check out their web sites.Also just spend a day wandering the open air markets in playa del carmen.You could also go to the port and take a 30$ round trip 30 min ferry ride over to cozumel for some great shopping! But Xcaret , xel ha and tulum are 3 must sees! have fun! |

You have to take a ferry boat up to an island off of cancun called, island of the lady, when you arrive you just rent a couple golf-karts that they have for only 15 dollars an hour then you drive aroung to the north side and there is cute local restuants with tons and tons of shopping. i love this island it is never too croweded and you get and awsome feeling when you are there with good vibes all around. |

Go to Playa Del Carmen and Xel-ha. Cancun is all pavement and expensive stores. Go see some of real Mexico! |

Lots of people. Ah-mazing spas there. You will love it. and oh make SURE to wear sunscreen. jic watch out for pick-pockets. I got robbed down there. But it is great. |

go to the walmart when you get there and buy your own booze if you plan on drinking and aren't going to an all-inclusive. buy a sports bottle, and mix your own drinks to sip on the beach. it is extremely expensive in Cancun.
rent a scooter and go exploring -- the real Cancun. you can get cheap, authentic cuisine in the downtown area away from the tourist traps. |

DO NOT leave the Distrito Hoteleria, the hotel district.
I love Mexico and go there all the time but, fact is, there is some serious crime there. The government and local governmet's place more cops in the tourist regions to ensure tourists' security. If you are not familiar with the areas "lesser traveled" regions, don't go there.
You can have an awesome time there. Especially in cancun. Be sure and see the quebradas, the cliffs. They are spectacular. |
