In Tijuana, what is the currancy that is most accepted? Is it Pesos, or do they mostly accept US Dollars?

Also, How much cheaper are things there? Say they accept Pesos, does that mean I could eat a fancy meal with 5 American Dollars since it converts to 50 Pesos?

Just a friend.
Things are not that much cheaper there, too many dollars are spent in TJ it keeps the prices up. Pesos are what things are priced in, however dollars are accepted everywhere. However you will get dinged when using them, they discount the exchange rate. You will save more if you pay in Pesos.

You can't get a fancy meal in TJ for 50 pesos, more like 250.

They accept both, but I'm sure they'd prefer dollars. And yeah, things are a lot cheaper in Mexico (you can hire a Federali to follow you around for a night for about $100). Just make sure to understand the conversion rates and know that you can haggle almost all prices down.

Both are accepted but you might want to use pesos. Flashing too many dollar can attract the wrong crowd. Besides, if you use them in different places they all have their own understanding of the exchange rate. And no, 50 pesos is still 5 dollars so think of it that way, you are not getting anything fancy for 5 dollars.

Pam
Pesos, because it`s Tijuana MEXICO not Tijuana USA and thing are not cheap, they are like everywhere some things cheap (made in china) and some things expensive.. and with $50 pesos maybe you can eat a McDonald's ,KFC or something like that but not a fancy meal..because with that money ($50)you can`t eat in chili's,sierra madre, apple bees, bennigans etc. or places like that
