Is 1000$ enough for a trip to cancun for one week ?
Rather than carrying around that amount of money, a better idea is to take you bank ATM card and get money as you need it. there are plenty of machines there and they'll dispense pesos and you'll get a pretty good exchnge rate. Most machines have instruction in English and Spanish. Just avoid isolated machines in the dark of night. And you might notify your bank so they don't question ATM transactions from a foreign country.

Hotel and airfare aside....I'm just bringing $600 for the week. That's to go out to Ruth Chris Steakhouse and go clubbing every night (about $40 at each club for VIP treatment and open bar). Other then that I've been to Cancun two other times and have already done all the naturistic tours, but if you want to do those then I guess $1000 for one person is plenty.

It's not enough to fly you down there and put you up in a hotel or resort for a week, but if you've already got those things paid for then $1,000.00 should be good unless you plan on doing a lot of clubbing and a lot of drinking...
