I was just in Cancun for my third time in february. I was there as a kid and i enjoyed it just as much then as i do now. There are many things to do for kids as well as adults. There is a wet and wild water park. There is xelha which is a natural water park in riviera maya... i forget exactly how long it takes to get there-maybe an hour or an hour and a half on a bus. Xelha has swimming with the dolphins, a lazy river, snorkeling-all kinds of great things. Also, we took a sailboat over to Isla Mujeres which i HIGHLY reccomend. It is a tiny island with a great beach. There are lots of areas to shop around and little restaurants. Also, I recommend getting a hotel with a great pool. This is the ultimate entertainment for kids! There is a great restaurant in downtown cancun(not the hotel zone-the real downtown) It is called pericos. Get there around 6 or 7-it has great entertainment for children AND adults. Their drinks are wonderful and they have live bands and have the kids parade around the restaurant and stuff. If you go to cancun pericos is a MUST!!!

Also, jetskis, boatrides, snorkeling trips and other water activities are everywhere!

Cancun is a definite for families.... most of the crazy spring break type things you hear about happen after 10pm!

Hope that helps:)

April is a great time to go. My wife and I went about 3 years ago. It really all depends on what type of atmosphere you want. Cancun is known for it's nightlife, and everything that goes along with that.
For my money (and with a family) I would go further south to
what is called the Myan Riviera. There are a number of resorts there that would be great. You can go to "loco gringo"
or cancun.com to get info on all the resorts. And absolutely look for the "all inclusive" resorts, it's the best way to go.

We stayed at the MoonPalace Resort which was very beautiful and service was unbelieveable. The only drawback to staying there again is that the ocean water off the beach there is dark, due to seaweed. That is why I would stay further south.

There are all kinds of things to do: You can go down on the reef in a mini submarine, take horseback tours, ATV tours,
you can tour the ancient ruins, swim with dolphins...
Depending on the age of your children--the snorkeling adventure was fantastic! We drove our own mini speedboat through the mangroves (following our guide) out to the reef.
Once there we tied off our boats to a bouy and snorkeled for about an hour. It was beatiful, just amazing--you won't believe how clear the water is there.
There is a group of hotels I can't remember the name that had huge lazy river and wave pool. If you'll email me I'll try to find the name and could send you some pics.

I haven't been there for several years but we loved Cancun. It's beautiful! We did a jet ski and snorkel trip. We went horseback riding on the beach. I wouldn't suggest Senor Frogs. It's an adult restaurant and gets wild. There are also some side trips to Cozumel or the Mayan ruins.
have a great time! I can't remember the hotel. Do a search online or go to tripadvisors.com. People rate hotels, restaurants and things to see. We went in January and the weather was great. Might want to check on college spring breaks. I wouldn't go then.

Cancun is great for familys, Just make sure you don't go on a CARNIVAL cruise they realy really suck and they don't even care. If you don't believe me just try and call Customer Service with a issue. Good luck.

CARNIVAL SUCKS

I think Cancun is a big party city where people just get drunk all the time. I don't think its the best atmosphere for children
