I had a great time there. Go to the Isla Mujares or try some para sailing. The bluest ocean water you will ever see. Don't go too far on the bus. You'll end up in the barrio. Can be dangerous. Tons to do.

Whether or not Cancun is any fun depends entirely on what you are looking to get out of it. If you are looking for a fun place to party with a lot of young Americans and other foreigners, it's great. There are tons of nightclubs and discos to choose from. If you are looking for a nice beach experience, Ixtapa is less crowded and is gorgeous. If you are looking for "authentic Mexico," definitely look elsewhere. But if you're looking to party lots, head to Cancun, kick back at Carlos & Charlie's and enjoy!

It really depends on your age, Cancun is seen as more of a party town and really isnt the best place if your looking for a relaxing time. If you are intending to go, I would recommend Senior Frogs as your first stop as its the best known and most visted bar in town. However, if your looking for a more quiet but equally festive area to travel within mexico to, I recommend hopping in a rental car and driving a short distance to the city of Cozumel for at least a little while which is known world over for its scuba driving and prestine landscape. The idea of fun is all in the eyes of the beholder, and while I enjoyed Cancun I enjoyed Cozumel (and not getting puked on) much better.

All the answers can be true.
What was not mentioned, if you are interested, nearly everyone speaks English. This was the original intent by the Gov.

A side note, the Gov. built pretty nice homes for all the service people in Cancun. I was a guest once. They did not want a slum district there.
All the hotels have water purification. Offbeat bars and restuarants may not. Even if they do, the ice cubes may not be. Trust me, experience.

What they did not forsee, the service employees earned enough pesos that they could afford and wanted house servants. Presto, the poor became those servants. Outside the nicer subdivisions, what do you see? SLUMS.

Have fun. Yes, go to Isla Muheres, the "Women's Island". Have a great lobster for me. Last I heard, recently, the exchange is 11 or 12 pesos to US$.

Its a fun place, but you have to be extremely careful. Always watch your drinks and be careful who you are around. Its a popular place for people to come grab young American girl and hurt them. Its a wonderful experience, just be extremely careful. Having a guy with you will always help, Mexican culture says the man is in charge of the woman and other men will be much more likely to leave you alone.

Its a blast. Do the BAR HOPPER or Party Hopper or WHATEVER those 2 different tours are called. Its relatively a good price and the people you meet are JUST like you. Its a blast! We don't go for the shopping- everytime we do that, we are miserable because we just want to lay at the beach.

Its definitely fun if you're into that sort of thing.

If youre looking to party and have a great time Cancun is great. Amazing Spas, resorts, the most beautiful beach, great food, kind people, great shopping and the funnest clubs. Carlos and Charlies is a must. ALso the best club in south america: Coco Bongos. Theres also Daddy O's and The City. The City is unbelievable.

Also you can take a bus or cab to Playa del Carmen. Its the party scene and great shopping in the 5th avenue and to seriously relax and see the most beautiful beach that is still virgin from all the big chain resorts go to tulum. it has good restaurants. I recomend Don Cafetos and The Basilico as for clubs in Tulum , the Mezzanine is the place to be.

You can also visit XCARET, Xel-ha. Theres tons of stuff to do and almost everyone speaks english. chances are you might even run into someone from youre own city!!

as long as you stay in the resort areas you will have a blast just be careful if you wonder too far into the cities because most of the countries dont like americans. yes even mexico....But the resort areas are a blast. Eat, Drink and be merry!

OMG, YES!!!!
well, my husband and i went there for our honeymoon! we went to moon palace and it was total heaven! my best advice is to go to an ALL INCLUSIVE resort! you only pay one fee, and everything is included, food, drinks, etc etc!!! it's worth it!!!!!

Theres so much stuff to do there I went there on a cruise last summer. Defintly go snorkling, its amazing. The shopping is really good too
